Career Development Tip #16 It's Friday...
It is important to go talk to as many of your direct reports as possible and "check in". Engaging with your team is key to letting them know you care. Questions that are good to ask:
1) How was your week? What was the best thing that happened in your world this week? The worst?
2) What are your major objectives for next week? How can I help you meet them?
3) How are things going for you in your job here?
4) Have you put any more thought into your career and your future? Should we be talking about the next step in your career?
Just a few questions to stay engaged will go a long ways in letting them know you are invested in their success and how they contribute to the organization.
