Career Development Tip #9 - Play Your Cards Right...
Do you remember the last time you went to your mailbox and found...bills, more bills, pizza coupons, a letter from an insurance agent, credit card offers...and then, unexpectedly, there is an envelope a little larger than the rest.  It's a card!  Who is it from?  Somebody thanking you for something, somebody wishing you Happy Birthday, somebody wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year!
How did it make you feel?  Everybody likes to get something in the mail that is not a bill or junk mail. 
By taking time to send a note card to those in your professional life you demonstrate yourself to be thoughtful and caring.  I don't know who said it first but it rings true, "people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care".  A hand written note card will let them know you care.
