“Disruptive Innovation”. The words themselves are a contrast in sentiment--excitement sitting on a bed of apprehension. Perhaps like the feeling that a toddler gets when their baby sibling arrives. By its nature, a disruptive innovation “doesn’t fit” within our way of doing things and thus creates a crisis. When a new business appears with a disruptive innovation, it forces competitors onto a “survive or die” pathway where they must scramble to either mimic that innovation or compete with it.
